Ryan Swindell is the founder and Principal of recently launched Ryan Swindell Government Relations (RSGR). Ryan has over twenty years of experience in the legislative arena. He cut his teeth working for the Tennessee General Assembly serving as the Chief Bill Clerk for the House of Representatives. This experience is where he first began to hone his expert knowledge of the parliamentary processes of the legislature. Ryan left the House Clerk’s office to serve as a Research Analyst for the House Agriculture Committee, the Government Operations Committee and the House Majority Leader where he developed his passion for legislative research.
Ryan later served in various legislative positions within the State of Tennessee as the Senior Legislative Liaison for ten years for the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) under former Governors Phil Bredesen and Bill Haslam. During that time he was also chosen to serve as the Legislative Director for the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).
In 2014, Ryan left the public sector to join the Windrow Phillips Group where he represented clients ranging from single-owner businesses to Fortune Global 500 companies. This opportunity allowed him to apply the same collaborative philosophy he developed in the public sector to policy issues faced by organizations outside state government.
Ryan’s new government relations firm aims to solve complex policy issues through collaborative efforts with key policymakers and state government officials. RSGR serves its clients with the philosophy that such persistent collaboration with other individuals, organizations and policymakers is the best path to public policy solutions.
Ryan is a native of Sparta, Tennessee and has a bachelor’s degree from Tennessee Technological University. He is married to Baylor Bone Swindell. Together, they have two children and live in Nashville, Tennessee.
